Annarosa Romano, Paolo Monterisi

 

We met in 2012 at the Volkshochschule in Telfs where we both attended a three-month course in engraving. Annarosa - High School Art Diploma Treviso 2002. From 1995 to 2000 Silkscreen Printing Teacher in Treviso and founder Studio Mathesis Interior Lighting Design. https://www.studiomathesis.com/

Paolo - from 1979 to 1987 Press Officier and Graphic inside Cosmit - Organizing Committee of Italian Forniture Exhibition, Milan. 1978 Diploma from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Art Degree, The French Alchemical Tradition and its relationschip with the Historic Avant-garde Movement.

We have been working between Milan and Treviso since 2014 with the R&M acronym.

 

R&M

 

Annarosa Romano and Paolo Monterisi are a couple of artists based in Milan and Treviso. They work in painting, drawing, sculpture and installations, at times employing traditional craft techniques. In the field of applied art and design they investigate the relationship between photography and video installation.Their recent works include large-scale photographic portraits of deeply psychological significance. Painting and pottery continue to be an important element of their practice.

Their works are present in MoMA PS1 N.Y. with “Scudo”, at Starbucks Milano Cordusio with “Diogene”. In 2015 they won the Red Dot Design Award London with “Fylo”, their pieces are included in the permanent collections of Berlin Staatliche Museen Preussischer Kulturbesitz, Museum of Decorative Arts London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, the New York Museum Cooper-Hewitt Museum and The Museum of Modern Art, Paris Musée des Arts Décoratif, the Charleroi Musée du Verre.

They have held group and solo exhibitions at: Rotonda della Besana, Milan; Aprilia-Rome “The places of time” by Mariano Apa; “What Lies Under”at Palazzo Colonnese Valeri -Vicenza; “Posthumous Notes” – Les Jardin de la Vierge, Anciens Etablissements Old England- Bruxelles ; “Every one never leaves” Monumental Complex Barracano, Bologna ; “Unstable Perceptions” Palazzo Malipiero, Venice “;I lost my mother’s watch” Palazzo Genovese - Salerno; “Was fürchten Sie denn jetzt noch? ” at the Teatro Comunale of Vicenza.

In 2016 in Venice they discovered the Le Corbusier Historical Archive in the Scuola Grande di San Marco - San Giovanni e Paolo Hospital, starting to produce a cycle of videos, photos and installations that reflect on the work of the architect-painter and his biography. These include Bark $, Bushes and Love, All in the Family, Sortir du Trou, Madame et Monsieur Maillechort - Femme de lettres.

In 2022, R&M organised the Bashes and Love exhibition at Villa Caldogno, in the province of Vicenza, Veneto, Italy. They exhibited at the Marbella Design Fair 2022, Spain, and at the Ambergreen Art Galllery, New York, USA.
